Let me tell you about a photoshoot that will forever hold a special place in my memory - not just for the adorable subject, but for the unexpected turn of events! This past week, I had the pleasure of meeting the newest member of the Kim family, a tiny wonder named Jane. At just three weeks old, she was a picture of pure, adorable perfection.
Now, when I schedule newborn sessions, I always factor in a little extra buffer time. Babies, after all, operate on their own schedule, and sometimes that schedule involves a strategically timed diaper change or a mid-shoot feeding. But this time, the unexpected detour came not from the little one, but from the family's furry companions back home!
Turns out, Dad was holding down the fort with the family's beloved pups, who unfortunately weren't feeling their best. With updates coming in about the pups needing to visit the emergency vet, the pressure was on to capture some beautiful memories of Jane before I needed to head back and ensure the well-being of the four-legged family members.
Challenge accepted!
While I normally relish the time to experiment with different poses and setups, this session became a whirlwind of adorable efficiency. Mom and Grandma (who was absolutely smitten with her granddaughter) were absolute rockstars, helping to soothe Jane and keep her comfortable throughout.
And let me tell you, this little lady was a champ! Despite the slightly shortened timeframe, we managed to capture a stunning variety of shots. We got her swaddled in the softest blankets, looking like a peaceful little cocoon. We documented her tiny fingers and toes, the delicate details that make newborns so precious. And of course, we snagged a few precious shots of Jane nestled in Mom and Grandma's arms, the pure love and connection radiating from the frame.
By the end of the session, I was breathless - not from running around (though there may have been some of that!), but from the sheer cuteness overload. Jane was a dream to photograph, and the love surrounding her was truly heartwarming.
As for the pups? Thankfully, with a little TLC, they were doing much better. This session was a reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful moments are captured amidst a little chaos. When dad saw the photos he was so sad to not be a part of the session but lamented that they'll be back to capture future milestones with her and I promised to get plenty of photos of him with her.
So here's to the Kim family, their adorable (and hopefully healthy!) pups, and the remarkable little wonder that is Baby Jane. May her journey be filled with endless love, laughter, and maybe even a few more photo sessions!7
