FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you have any questions that are unanswered, feel free to email me at info@yataphotography.com.
- What are your hours?
-
I am available 8am-8pm every day. My schedule fills up quickly sometimes so if you're interested in a shoot, please let me know and I can schedule you in.
- Where are you located?
-
I am in Suwanee, GA at the corner of McGinnis Ferry and Old Atlanta Rd.
- Do you accept reservations?
-
Yes. Sessions are by appointment only.
- What payment options do you accept?
-
I accept Cashapp, Zelle, Square, cash, Apple Pay, and Venmo.
- What should I wear for a family, couples, or portrait shoot?
-
Feel free to bring a change of clothes with you to the shoot. If it's a family shoot, Pinterest has a lot of ideas if you search "color palettes for (family/portrait/etc) pictures". I can send you a sheet on what to expect prior to your shoot. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
- Do you have a cancellation policy?
-
I do. Cancellation for any reason can be done up to 1 week in advance of the shoot and the retainer will be refunded if no investment has been made specifically for that shoot.
Rescheduling can be done up to 24 hours prior to the shoot.
For weddings and events, cancellation can be made at any time. However, the retainer fee that was paid will not be refunded. Cancellation must be done in writing.
- Can I text you?
-
Absolutely! I welcome text messages and emails. If you prefer minimal contact, that is fine with me. I will try to keep you as informed as possible through text and email.
- What should I wear to my maternity shoot?
-
Maternity shoots include access to the maternity closet. I have a variety of dresses for use. You are also welcome to buy your own dresses or outfits.
- How do I schedule a newborn shoot if I don't know when, exactly, the baby will arrive?
-
Newborn shoots need to be scheduled months in advance. For natural birth babies, the session will be booked for around the due date and if the baby arrives sooner or later the date can be moved.
C-section births can book the session in advance.
There may be limited space so it is best to book as soon as possible. There may be availability last minute but there is no guarantee.
- Can just dad bring the baby?
-
Absolutely. I have no problem working with babies when just the dad brings them and I completely understand that moms need a break too, especially when they have just had a baby or have little ones at home to care for. I have dads who book sessions with me, bring in the baby, and pick the photos (although mom is usually a part of that as well!).
- What should I wear to my newborn shoot?
-
For babies: There is no need to purchase outfits for your newborn shoot. The best way to bring baby in is well fed, in a carseat with a diaper on (no clothes or socks), with a warm blanket over them. The baby will typically be wrapped for the first poses and this is the easiest way to keep the baby sleepy, relaxed, and easily wrapped.
The baby will eat more than they normally do during the shoot. All outfits and wraps will be provided by the studio. There is no need to bring or purchase anything for the baby. You may bring items if they are sentimental and you want to include them in your shoot.
For Parents and siblings: Avoid patterns, words, or loud colors. The best thing for moms are just neutral gray and cream colors. Dads can wear simple t-shirts or button-downs. Siblings can wear neutral-colored tops or dresses. Feel free to ask or bring changes of clothes. I may also have something in the studio to throw on as well.
- How many setups will I get with my newborn session?
-
I will do as many setups as the baby allows. If there is something in particular that you want, it is important that you communicate it with me at a minimum of at least 3 days prior to the session. Older babies will be typically more difficult to work with so please keep this in mind when booking your session.
For mini sessions, these are only an hour and a half so it will mostly be baby wrapped unless the baby sleeps like an angel and, if that is the case, I will do multiple outfits, etc.
I do as much as I can in the time allotment because I want you to have the photos you desire for your home. However, I am at the mercy of the baby's mood at the time of the session. I encourage bringing gripe water, gas drops, and any other things that the baby may need to settle. Please don't change formula, eat spicy foods (if breastfeeding), or do anything out of the ordinary at least 2 days prior to the session to ensure the baby doesn't react to it.
- Should I get my hair and makeup done for the shoot?
-
You want to look your absolute best for the shoot so it's definitely a good idea to get your hair and makeup done professionally before the shoot. Be sure to let the makeup artist know that it's for a specific shoot so they know not to use makeup that will look bad in certain lighting. That being said, having a professional do it can be a confidence boost, it's less stress on you, and you will get the look you want.
If you want to do your own hair and makeup, you are absolutely welcome to. It's not mandatory to have a professional do it and if you know the look you're going for it's not a problem.
- Do I need an entirely new wardrobe?
-
This is a common thought for most of us and an upcoming photoshoot has some unspoken appeal to go buy all new clothes but it's not necessary. In some instances such as the kindergarten graduation shoot the cap and gown needed to be purchased from Amazon because the school didn't supply one but in a lot of cases, the clothing you have is sufficient. You will just need to pick items that you feel comfortable in.
A good rule of thumb is to avoid clothing with graphics, words, patterns, or loud colors. In some instances patterns are okay, such as dresses with polka dots or small flowers and loud colors have their place such as a shoot that is in an urban setting. However, for sweet family shots outdoors soft neutrals look absolutely amazing.
If you're wondering if your outfit will work or not for the type of the shoot, just shoot me a photo through text message and I will do my best to provide some guidance. I am no professional stylist myself but I have a pretty good idea of what will contrast with backgrounds and what will look good in the photos.
- What if it rains on my session day?
-
Most of the photoshoots I book are outdoors so I start watching the weather 2-3 days before the session date. If it rains on that day, we will reschedule for another date. If no reschedule is available, i.e. it's an event date, then we will find ways to work around the rain whether we find a gazebo or another way to take the photos.
