Sutton is turning One! A huge happy birthday to this sweet girl. I first met her when she came in for her newborn session and her adorable self did so well for that. I was looking forward to capturing her milestone session and seeing how much she has grown!
Her mama opted for an outdoor location at McDaniel Farm Park with its rolling fields of grass in the background. Our first couple of attempts at setting a date failed due to rainy weather and the next appointment was a bit too chilly for a baby and she had a tummy virus so we rescheduled for the following weekend. The Saturday that we finally got to do it, the weather was perfect! We opted for a shady spot to shield Sutton's fair skin from the sun and it was a spot I really loved with what looks like a little hill in the background.
I brought along a white blanket for Sutton to sit on, along with her "One" sign and a little crate to prop it up, keeping the props simple, so Sutton remained the focus of the shoot. Her mom wanted simple, clean, and neutral.
Sutton was a natural in front of the camera, giggling and playing with me while I captured her bright blue eyes and adorable smile. She sat pretty still for most of the session which surprised me. Most 1-year-olds are very active and crawl all over the place but she just sat there and giggled as I handed her various things to play with.
After her "one" photos on the blanket were done, I moved on to capturing some beautiful family portraits. I love, love, love getting the bond between parents and child. They are such an adorable family and I love that they chose baby blue as their color. It looked so good with the natural background.
I always do my absolute best to keep the baby engaged and entertained throughout the session and hopefully making the photoshoot a fun and enjoyable experience for all!
